# get_brief

> Research brief

**Research brief** · \$0.02 per call (x402, USDC)

Start with overview for an ordinary company or ETF research question, including outlook and changes. Present findings in plain language with named investors, dated source links and important gaps; include record IDs and field names when requested for verification or export. Use detail=current for up to three current Beliefs, each with up to three attached risks and three pending or unassessed catalysts, evidence URLs, timestamps, material qualifications and explicit unknowns. Open risks and materialized risks with supported continuing relevance qualify; no implicit severity or age cutoff. Selection reserves opposing views then distinct stances and recency. The 32 KiB current response reports whole-case omissions, quality gaps and pagination; it is not complete coverage. Full opens machine export. Historical reads preserve their cutoff.

## Input parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `ticker` | string | No | min length 1; max length 32 |
| `as_of` | string | No | |
| `max_results` | integer | No | Maximum returned views. Overview returns at most five (default five); larger valid requests are capped at five with explicit returned and omitted counts. Full supports 1–20. Omit for an ordinary overview. min 1; max 20 |
| `detail` | "overview" \| "full" \| "current" | No | Current returns up to three reviewed current Beliefs with up to three Risks and three Catalysts each, direct evidence URLs, clocks and explicit unknowns under 32KiB. Attached open Risks or materialized Risks with supported continuing relevance qualify, without age/severity exclusion; unknown concerns remain separately qualified. Selection reserves opposing views, then distinct stances, effective/publication recency, observed recency and stable ID. Omitted whole cases have continuations/detail references. Current is a stored read and cannot refresh. Start with overview for research questions: it includes complete selected cases, dated developments, assessment and citations. Full is for a complete machine export; oversized full company reads through MCP return an explicitly bounded overview with case IDs for get\_belief drill-down. REST detail=full retains the export. Fund briefs return fund\_overview for either value. |
| `entity_id` | string | No | Released subject ID returned by search\_entities. |
| `cursor` | string | No | max length 4096 |

## Transports

* **MCP:** `tools/call` with name `get_brief` at `https://beliefstate.ai/mcp` (account access) or the wallet-paid x402 MCP server. See [MCP integration](https://docs.beliefstate.ai/guides/mcp-server.md).
* **x402 HTTP:** `POST https://beliefstate.ai/v1/research/get_brief` with the arguments as a JSON body. An unpaid request returns an HTTP 402 payment quote.
* **Related REST resource:** [`GET /v1/brief`](https://docs.beliefstate.ai/api-reference/brief/get-an-evidence-backed-research-brief-for-a-ticker).

## Example request

### MCP

```json theme={null}
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "get_brief",
    "arguments": {
      "ticker": "NBIS",
      "detail": "overview"
    }
  }
}
```

### x402 HTTP

```bash theme={null}
curl --request POST \
  --url 'https://beliefstate.ai/v1/research/get_brief' \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '{"ticker":"NBIS","detail":"overview"}'
```

The example shows request shape only. Identifiers are placeholders, not records.
